An authority in New Zealand asks for an apostilled document? The apostille must be issued in the document’s country of origin — never at the destination counter. ABC World handles it 100% online: certified true copy where needed, Hague apostille, and delivery wherever you are.

Who issues the apostille?
For a document issued in New Zealand: the Department of Internal Affairs (Authentication Unit). For a document issued elsewhere (Switzerland, France, the UK…), that country’s own authority — we handle both directions through our notary network.
When is it required?
Whenever a public document (diploma, civil-status record, judgment, register extract…) must take effect in New Zealand: the Hague Convention replaces the whole consular chain with this single stamp.

Getting a document apostilled for New Zealand: how it works

The apostille’s logic surprises many people: it is the country that issued the document that apostilles it, not the one receiving it. If your Swiss or European diploma is requested in New Zealand, the apostille is affixed at origin; if a document issued in New Zealand must serve abroad, it is delivered by the Department of Internal Affairs (Authentication Unit). Our network of notaries and correspondents covers both cases: you upload a copy, we prepare the certified true copy where needed, obtain the apostille from the right authority, and deliver everything by e-mail and then by tracked post or DHL.

Frequently asked questions

My document was issued in Europe and must serve in New Zealand — where is the apostille done?
In the issuing country: its designated authority affixes the apostille, and the document is then recognised in New Zealand with no further formality. Upload a copy in the quote and we route it to the right authority.
Do I also need a translation?
Often, yes: the apostille authenticates the document, it does not translate it. If the receiving authority requires a certified translation, our partner site certifiedtranslation.world provides it — mention it in your order.
What are the prices?
Apostille $70 per document, then $50 from the 2nd document in the same order. Certified true copy $70. DHL Zone 1 $90, Zone 2 (international) $140.
